Secret Things Belong to God
Did you know you can trust God even when you don’t know what He is doing? Even when we can’t understand what is going on in our lives, we know that His plans are good. We can rest knowing that the secret things belong to God. When my daughter was five years old, I planned a surprise birthday for her complete with a themed birthday cake and decorations galore. Gifts were stacked on the table all wrapped in shiny pink paper and big bright bows. Nothing was spared to make her day extra special. Hushed whispers filled the air as all her little friends and family packed the room. Everyone…

Let My Daughters Speak
Key Verse: “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV) I was in the midst of a heated discussion. I was very upset and to be honest I was becoming angry. Then in the midst of trying to reason things out the other person cut me off and left. Just like that. They had said what they wanted to say but they had no interest at all of hearing my side of the conversation. I was left with lots to say but no one to say it to. It left me…

Where My Heart Finds Rescue
Endurance. A word when I think on it’s meaning can stir up lots of mixed emotions. Dictionary.com https://www.dictionary.com/browse/endurance?s=t describes endurance this way, “It is the ability or strength to continue or last, especially despite fatigue, stress, or other adverse conditions; stamina.” My way of describing it most days is a bit more dramatic. I describe it like being on a ship that is being tossed in the crushing waves, the sails are ripped to shreds, the hull has a big hole in it from slamming against a rock and you still make it to shore alive and in one piece. Strike up the band. You endured. A less dramatic way…

Before You Ask
Key Verse: “If a son (or daughter) asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish?” Luke 11:11 (KJV) Daughter, Ask yourself before you go and humbly ask of your God today. Before you pour your heart out inside that closet Before you bow low down on your knees or sadly bow your head Even before you voice what weighs so heavily on your heart or speak out loud what your soul so longs for, Remind yourself of just who it is that you are praying to. Ask…

My Humble Prayer for Our Nation……
Dear Heavenly Father, We are in trouble. We need your help. Our land weeps and the eagle flys low. Our flag is burned in the streets and your Holy Word is being discarded and disrespected. Lord, how did we come to this. Forgive us. Our hearts are crying out for justice, for fairness, for equality, for restoration and yes, Lord, for unity. We ask that you go into the hallowed halls and rooms of our House of Representatives and Senate, Lord. We ask that you make your presence known. Go into these sacred courtrooms of justice and decision making to represent your people. You, Lord be our representative. You be…

God Still Brings Beauty From Ashes
Key Verse: “To grant to those who mourn in Zion— to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified”.” Isaiah 61:3 (ESV) A friendship I had worked hard to build burned that day. All the way to the ground. All that would remain would be a few burned bricks of memories. Words carelessly spoken would be the spark that had kindled the flames. Even though the intentions of my heart had been good that day, it…

A Heart Unmasked
Kay Verse: “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 (ESV) Maybe I am the only one. And if I am that’s ok. I will be my own audience of one. Because Y’all I will be honest and admit that I am having a hard time processing some things right now. Things my tired eyes are seeing and my heavy ears are hearing. Hate and division is just plain hard to witness from every angle. Finger…

Adjusting My Glasses
Key verse: “No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.” Philippians 3:13 (NLT) We had a big laugh that day driving back from Walmart. The sun was brightly shining when we had left the store so I had put on my sunglasses. The storm had seemed to come out of nowhere and the sky turned dark within minutes. I kept telling my mom that I couldn’t see anything and that I might have to pull over. Then it finally dawned on me that the reason everything seemed so dark wasn’t just…

Let Us Come and See
How do I put into words that will completely describe this past year? A year filled with disappointment, frustration and hardships in so many different forms. A year where my heart at times shut down just the same as many stores, churches and businesses did. My emotions have been all over the place. One day up. The next day way down. I would love to have a dollar for everything I said or even thought could anything good come from a year like 2020. As I say good bye to this indescribable year, I am reminded before I turn the page to start the first chapter in a brand new…

Finding Purpose in Your Stable
Have you ever felt like all your dreams for your life just didn’t turn out anything like you thought they would? Maybe it just feels like your life got hijacked somewhere between the dreams you had for your life and the reality of where you are now? If your answer is yes to the above, let me encourage you by telling you that you aren’t the only one. I’m not the only one either. The Bible is full of people just like us. People that were busy dreaming and planning for all the ordinary everyday stuff when God out of nowhere interjected them onto a pathway of the unimaginable and…
