Take Ten

Homemade Guacamole with Essential Oils

My sweet grandson is at the beach this week, and it is pouring the rain. Not in the mood to read, but I am in the mood for a snack. So my “me” time today is going to look like a big bowl of homemade guacamole with essential oils and a large pile of tortilla chips.

I have always loved guacamole but never made it homemade before Cov-19. I have a Mexican restaurant a couple of minutes from my house, so each time I crave this Avocado feast from heaven, I just run there and grab a bowl. But with being confined to quarantine due to Covid-19 to be safe,  I decided there was no better time than the present to learn to make my own and use what I had.

I fell into the whole substituting essential oils for the lime and lemon as a fluke. I have been using oils for years, but I admit I mostly diffuse and only use certain foods. When I started to get out all the ingredients, I realize that I forgot one of the most important ingredients. Limes. And you can’t have guacamole without limes. So this girl improvised. To my surprise, I loved it, and every time I have made this taste bud sensation, I still choose to substitute my oils for the real limes and lemons.

I hope you enjoy this recipe and your Take Ten break. Leave me a comment if you try. I would love to know how you like my recipe.

Ingredients:

Three Avocados peeled and mashed

One Tomato diced

1/2 onion chopped diced

3 cloves of garlic peeled and pressed

Juice of a lime or 5 drops of Lime Essential Oil

1 tsp of lemon juice or 1 drop of Lemon Essential Oil

Salt and pepper taste

*Can add cilantro or jalapeño for spice. I prefer to make without.

Mix all ingredients. Chill.

Next… grab a bowl full of tortilla chips, put your feet up, and enjoy!

One more thing…

Don’t forget to remind yourself….. Girl, you deserve it.

See you at the table and in the field,

Susan
