God Is Never Too Busy To Care
It wasn’t the news I wanted to hear. My first thoughts were of my family’s needs and how I could possibly manage something else penciled in on my already overloaded calendar. My schedule was packed full of days spent caring for others to have time to take care of something that involved me.
When I finally had time to go to God in prayer and His word, I was amazed when the scripture I landed on seemed so relatable to how I felt. It comforted my heart, and a peace settled over me. Even though I hadn’t received the good news I longed for, God wasn’t short on good news for His daughter. It was the encouragement I needed to be reminded that God is always mindful of what we are going through and never fails to be present in our moments of need.
Matthew 21:14 (CSB) reads, “The blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them.” It is such a small yet profound verse. When you read that one verse while already familiar with all that Jesus accomplished while walking this earth, amazingly, it almost seems like an ordinary moment. No fanfare is needed. There is no call for attention. This is a seemingly ordinary moment in the day of this divine healer named Jesus.
But when you take the time to read the verses before this verse, it takes on a profound meaning. Right before the blind and the lame arrived at the temple looking for Jesus, Jesus had a full schedule of His own. He was busy taking care of some other significant matters. Jesus had just interrupted the money changers, turning over their tables with coins crashing to the floor, cages flying, and chairs hurling. He had just exposed one of the biggest scams of the day, and yet, Jesus, after being in such a righteous rage moments before, turned his attention and gaze ever so tenderly to those who were sick and hurting.
He proved that day that no matter what was happening around Him, He was never too busy to care for those who came seeking His help.
This tender moment teaches us that we will never come to Jesus with concerns, worries, fears, or hurts and find Him too busy to notice. We will never see Him preoccupied or distracted with other matters to take the time to attend to us. He is never too busy to meet our needs, nor will He push us away because He has another, more pressing agenda.
With all the turmoil, problems, and chaos around us in this world today, it is refreshing to be reminded that Jesus still notices His people in the midst of it all.
We have been given an open invitation to come boldly to His throne to find help in times of need (Hebrews 4:16). Whether it be day or night, His ears are attentive to our cries, and His arms are ever ready to provide comfort and the best care imaginable for those He calls His own.
We can pray to Him with confidence that we will never find Him too busy to listen to our cries. We will never see Him unconcerned about what troubles us or too busy to heal and bind up our wounds and hurts. He would never push us away or tell us to return at a more convenient time.
God’s word reminded me of something I had momentarily forgotten. I may forget to care for myself, especially while caring for others, but He never will. I will always find Him attentive to care for me and meet my needs. I will never find His calendar too full to pencil me into His ever-loving care.

This is a refreshing reminder that we need to find time for self-care. I was just emphasizing this to my son last night. Like me, he spends a lot of time caring for others around him. Not that it’s bad to do this but we have to make time for us too. So thankful for these sweet reminders from His Word. Praying you take care of you too friend! ❤️

Self care doesn’t come easy for me. I am learning though there are times I just have to push others things (even good things) out of the way and spend time alone with Jesus without distraction. We can’t pour from an empty cup. Thanks for sharing, friend.

Recently God gave me Hebrews 4:16 as He revealed to me how I am often overwhelmed because I try to solve my own problems rather than draw near to the throne of grace that I might find grace to help in time of need.

I can so try to fix this myself and become overwhelmed too. Thank you for sharing along with your go to verse.
