Lessons Learned from Rope and a Fence
Key Verse: “Go into the village in front of you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them to me.” Matthew 21:2 (ESV) I sat with tears in my eyes at trying to reason how did I get here again? I thought I had finally won the dreaded battle with comparison. Unfortunately, I fell for it again. Her calling looks carefree and glamorous while my calling requires lots of hard work. Her assignment looks fun and exciting. Mine is painful and anything but fun. It looks like she got the high heels while I got the muddy work boots yet…

Waiting for Rain
Key Verse: “For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.” Hab. 2:3 (ESV) Waiting is hard. Waiting with expectation is even more challenging, as we have also learned in our yearning for life to go back to normal for the last year. Elijah had to trust in God’s provision as he waited through three and a half years of drought and famine. People were hungry, thirsty, and had grown tired of waiting. A Day in the Field
Today has been a day. I found myself falling before God emptying all sorts of things. Things like doubt, fear, anger, stress, and worries at His feet. It was like one colossal-sized dump with tears flying everywhere. I looked like a mess. I waited to see if He would be angry with me for letting the dam break from all that was on my flooding heart. I had too many “whys” and “I don’t understands” that came out in the mix to actually number. I tried not to directly accuse and withhold reverence from my God. I admit that I didn’t sugarcoat any of the hard stuff I said either.…

Grace Promised for Every. Single. Thing.
Did you know?…… That thing you said that you didn’t mean. That thing you said that you meant at the time you said it but after your words were spoken you were left with profound regret. It left an ache in your heart and a bitter taste on your tongue that would not soon be remedied. That thing you did that you have wished a thousand times you could take back and undo. That thing you said in heated anger and meant every single word and would say all over again. That thing you said that crushed someone’s heart and made them feel so very small and unloved. That thing…

The Power of Words
I have often wondered what the words were that Jesus stooped to write that day in scripture. (John 8: 6-8) The day the woman was brought before him surrounded by would be assailants ready to hurl their stones. His words changed the outcome that day. Words so powerful that the stones dropped one by one and a woman’s life was miraculously saved. I’ve experienced powerful words in my own life. Witnessed first hand what they can do. Words that broke my heart. Words that made me burn with anger. I have also been the recipient of words that wrapped my heart up like a warm blanket and brought comfort…
